Once upon a time - the Village of Tularosa had no public library. Then in the fall of 2003 a dedicated, experienced librarian named Randi Northrop approached the Tularosa Village trustees with a proposal to create a public library. After approval, two small rooms in the Tularosa Community Center were made available for the library. Mrs. Northrop, along with her spouse John, many volunteers, a generous benefactor and an interested community came together to create the building located at 515 Fresno Street. The building is dedicated in remembrance of Lupe and Jose Bernal, the family who owned the land that the library is located on.
